Lanka Financial Services for Underserved Settlement (LFSUS), a company formed by the United Nations Human Settlement Program (UN – HABITAT) with the assistance of Ministry of Urban Development in 2007, recently signed a tripartite agreement with Sri Lanka Savings Bank (SLSB), a leading licensed specialised bank and Rajarata Praja Kendraya (RPK), a well-established microfinance institution in Kekirawa to disburse Rs. 10 million among 138 low income families in North Central province to construct their houses.
The SLSB granted a bulk loan of Rs. 10 million to RPK under a 50% guarantee provided by LFSUS in order to consider microfinance loans under flexible collateral or no collateral basis for housing purpose for the members of RPK.
