Liberty Building Solutions is set to bring its highly-respected Barton range of premium quality electrical cable protection systems to the Sri Lankan market for the first time.

The company, which is part of the fast-growing international Liberty Engineering Group, has appointed its sister enterprise SIMEC Lanka as the main in-country distributor of these prestigious products which have been used in such landmark buildings as the Burj Khalifa Tower in Dubai and the new Wembley Stadium in London. Liberty, which is the exclusive worldwide overseas agent for these Barton systems, will unveil details of the products to a special customer seminar at the Cinnamon Grand in Colombo this week.

Chief Executive Richard Botting explained: “The SIMEC Lanka team will provide the Sri Lankan construction market with a local presence, technical back-up, commercial support and a strategic stocking of the essential installation materials to ensure the highest levels of customer service. The Sri Lankan and Maldives market will enjoy the full back-up of an experienced Barton squad both in Dubai and from the factory in UK.”

He stressed the British origins of the products saying: “Barton UK Class 4 rigid steel conduit is produced at the Liberty Precision Tube mill, located in Oldbury, West Midlands UK. It is the only conduit genuinely made in the UK. Many competitors claim UK origin – often simply transhipping via a UK port – but that is not the same as being made in the UK, a country which applies globally recognised quality standards.”

Successfully supplied in the UK for over 50 years and for more than 25 years in the Middle East market, the Barton brand is part of Liberty Engineering Group, wholly owned by the Liberty House Group, an international business focused on worldwide growth in a number of interconnected sectors, including energy, steel, aluminium and added value engineering.

The Chief Executive said the Group had exciting plans for the future and, using the wider network of the organisation, Dubai-head quartered Liberty Building Solutions is expanding into new overseas markets including Indonesia, Singapore and now Sri Lanka& Maldives. This week’s event in Colombo will bring together industry professionals to showcase the BARTON team’s quality, value and experience in supplying fast-track concurrent large projects.

Botting said: “Beyond the UK, the Middle East and specifically the UAE is our largest and most successful market. The BARTON range and its sister brands LONGMORE and HAYES, including rigid and flexible steel conduit, associated fittings, steel trunking, electrical enclosures and switch boxes have been use in iconic construction projects such as: Dubai International Airport, the Grand Mosque Abu Dhabi,  the Asian Games stadium in Doha and Dubai Mall.

Liberty Engineering is also investigating the feasibility of setting up tubular component manufacturing in Sri Lankan for the automotive and aerospace markets.
