PropertyGuru’s recent Emerging Markets Property Show attracted hundreds of people eager for knowledge about investing in Cambodia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam
Emerging nations have made it to the top five markets for investment and development this year, based on the Emerging Trends in Real Estate Asia Pacific 2017 report published by the Urban Land Institute and PwC. The rise in foreign investor sentiment is attributed to higher yields and industry-driven opportunities gained through strategic entry into these markets.
This year will continue to see overseas investors respond to three factors: strong economic performance in emerging markets, higher returns and potential capital appreciation, and further diversification benefits.
Meanwhile, more than 470 people visited PropertyGuru’s Emerging Markets Property Show, held on 22 and 23 April at the Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel. The event attracted potential investors who were eager to learn more about investment prospects in Cambodia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
The seminar session started with an overview on investing in Sri Lanka, one of the fastest emerging hotspots in South Asia. This was followed by an in-depth look at the Indochina region, alongside key investment opportunities and risks within Asia’s emerging markets. Attendees were also taken through how to manage overseas property, financing requirements, updates on upcoming infrastructure developments, and had the chance to interact with expert panellists on key issues facing these markets.
Alphanam Real Estate JSC, Blue Mountain Properties, Capitol Developers, Creed Asia (Cambodia), Lakeway Vietnam Real Estate and PPCAT were amongst the participating developers.
“PropertyGuru has brought a lot of attention to Asia’s emerging markets. Investors would like to know how to diversify their investment portfolios and take advantage of what’s happening right now in these markets. They are interested not just in a particular part of Asia, but about the region as a whole,” said Jovany Antonio, founder and CEO of CMS Cambodia.Participating exhibitor Johnny Chan, Sales & Marketing Director at Creed Group, noted that the property show helped investors to gain more insights on destinations like Cambodia and Vietnam. He felt that the seminars were educational and attracted a good response.
Guest speaker Richard Buultjens, Managing Director and CEO of RB Realtors & Consultants, Sri Lanka, was also pleased with the interest levels seen at the Emerging Markets Property Show. He had the opportunity to share more information about Sri Lanka’s property market with potential investors. In return, they learnt more about the policies and procedures of purchasing property there.
