CBB sixes back for the 10th year

The Council of Business with Britain (CBB) will hold its CBB Sixes at the P Sara Stadium (Oval) in Colombo. The event scheduled for Saturday, 27 November will comprise of popular sports - Cricket, Table Tennis, Badminton and Netball.

The CBB Sixes, an annual event in the corporate calendar will comprise of many leading companies in Sri Lanka and be a fun filled day for all CBB members and its families with many surprises and activities.

The event, to be held for the tenth successive year, is in aid of supporting the English Language Teacher Training Project (CBB-ELT), a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the CBB, which serves to train 500 teachers directly and impact 40,000 students throughout the country.

This year’s event started off with the Badminton tournament played on 13 November with 10 teams participating. The event will also feature 40 Cricket, 8 Netball and 3 Table Tennis teams from multinational and local corporates who are all members of the CBB.

Nick Nicolaou, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Sri Lanka and Maldives and Chairman of the Council for Business with Britain said, “We are happy to host yet another exciting sports triangular for our members and their families. This event promises to showcase the sporting ability of individuals from many prestigious organisations and to foster networking opportunities, amongst all participants. This event has expanded over the years, with the inclusion of popular sports such as Cricket, Netball, Badminton and now Table Tennis, which have become an integral part of this tournament.  We look forward to another successful event that will help contribute to sustaining our CSR efforts in English language education for the betterment of society.”

The CBB Sixes sponsored by HSBC, for the fifth year, will be co- sponsored by Aviva NDB Insurance PLC, Cathay Pacific Airways, Hilton Colombo Residence John Keells Logistics Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, Qatar Airways and Healthcare sponsor Lanka Hospitals.

The Council for Business with Britain (CBB) formed in 2000 exists to promote two-way trade between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom and to maintain and foster a harmonious business relationship between the two countries. The CBB has a membership of approximately 140 companies and is headed by a multinational committee with the British High Commissioner in Sri Lanka as its Patron. The CBB is affiliated to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
