The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, together with iPhonik Ltd and an Internet Presence Solution Provider – Logan Nathan, conducted a presentation on ‘social media secrets for business’: “Reach the world through social media tools” on 28 March at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC).

The audience exceeded well beyond the organisers expectations and was a cross section of IT professionals, CEOs and Human resource personnel. The audience was looking to leverage social networking platforms such as Facebook for their business strategies.

It was an extremely enlightening presentation and an eye opener for many of us who use social media in our day to day personal lives.

The presentation shed light on how social media has revolutionised business-to-business communication through the use of Twitter, You tube, Flickr, Facebook. The presenter also highlighted that the internet is moving from search engine based model to a more real-time social interaction based one. The audience was well engaged during the entire period of the workshop with interactive clips, questions and hands on information.

Upon completion of the workshop, many audience members were awaiting quite eagerly to speak to the presenter and find out some “inside” tips on the use of social media for their particular business models and how to engage staff members around Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Many of the members of the audience found it quite amusing to note that “twittering” is an accepted business and English word in the industry.
