DSI wins prestigious award at World Brand Congress 2010

DSI Supersport, the most preferred branded shoe for school children across the island, was awarded the ‘Brand Leadership Award in Footwear’ at the World Brand Congress in Mumbai recently.

The World Brand Congress recognises the greatest minds behind the world’s most successful brands and their communication campaigns and DSI Supersport emerged victorious over two other fierce competitors.

The brand also recently won a Silver Award for local brand of the year at the SLIM Brand Excellence Awards 2010, the only award ceremony that rewards high performing brands and brand custodians in Sri Lanka.

“This is indeed a very proud moment, not only for the DSI Supersport brand but also D. Samson and Sons as it is our first international award, and to be presented with this prestigious award at this international forum is a large step towards achieving global recognition for DSI Supersport brand,” said Saliya Amarathunga, Strategic and Brand Planning Manager of D. Samson and Sons (Pvt) Ltd.

Expressing his views regarding their latest achievement General Manager of Marketing Rohan Somawansa said: “This is the most important award the company has won to date, thanks to the DSI Supersport team who made this possible. This award is sure to help the brand penetrate the global market in addition to our local extension plans.”

With regard to future plans, DSI Supersport is looking forward to maintaining its market dominance by clenching 70% of the market share by the year 2013. In addition to this the company is aiming to create brand extensions by introducing products such as water bottles, lunch boxes, socks, schools bags, and school uniforms.
