Dusty nominee from CIM Sri Lanka Region to represent CIM International Board of Trustees

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) is the world’s largest and most prestigious professional body for marketing with over 60,000 members world-wide and it is the only Institute that offers the chartered status in the marketing industry.

The International Board of Trustees (IBT) is the supreme governing and controlling body of The Chartered Institute of Marketing.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing, Sri Lanka Region has made its remark as the first CIM International Region and the fastest growing CIM body with representatives on the IBT since 2001. Mano Tittawella, Dr. Uditha Liyanage, Lasantha Wickremasooriya, Shiraz Latiff and Suren Rajanathan have held positions on the IBT previously allowing CIM Sri Lanka region to lobby for a stronger voice at the CIM International Board of Trustees and greater involvement in policy making.

These past achievements signify the recognition that CIM Sri Lanka Region has earned amongst the CIM international community, and the value it has created to the local membership through the years.

This year, Dusty Alahakoon is the only Sri Lankan that has been nominated to represent the IBT of CIM- UK.  Alahakoon is a Chartered Marketer and Fellow of the Institute.

He also holds a MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayawardenepura and currently reads for PHD in Strategy Implementation at the Colombo University.  Counting for nearly 20 years of experience in marketing and sales management in multinational companies spread across in pharmaceuticals, industrial equipments (Catepillar), FMCG (Bonlac Foods), tobacco and beverage sectors, Alahakoon has previously served as the Head of Brand Marketing at Ceylon Tobacco Company, a subsidiary of British American Tobacco PLC and then as Head of Marketing at Coca-Cola beverages SL Ltd. Today, he is the Chief Operating Officer at Asia Pacific Brewery (Lanka) Limited.

Alahakoon has been a reputed CIM lecturer since 1999 and has coached over 5000 students producing world prize winners (strategic marketing decisions) and many Sri Lankan prizes for customer communications, marketing planning & marketing research & information.  

Any CIM member with ACIM or above is eligible to vote for the election. Other international nominees for the IBT are Professor Michael J Baker, Karen Beamish, Alan Clarke, David Cook, Matilda Crossman, Chris Diaz, Rob Galkoff, Mocky Khan, Marta Kozlowska, Tracy Morshead, Professor Stanley J. Paliwoda, Sally Anne Partoon and Dr. Thavaselvam K. Voting process ends on 20 December 2010.
