With reference to the article titled “Dusty nominee from CIM Sri Lanka Region to represent CIM International Board of Trustees published yesterday in Daily FT, the CIM Sri Lanka Region has sent the following clarification.

We wish to place on record that The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Sri Lanka Region has not nominated or endorsed any candidate’s nomination for the December 2010 election to the Board of Trustees of CIM.  This article incorrectly portrays that CIM Sri Lanka Region has nominated Dusty Alahakoon and that he will represent CIM Sri Lanka Region.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) calls for nominations to its Board of Trustees and any member, by virtue of being a member of The Chartered Institute of Marketing, is free to nominate themselves for a vacancy on the Board.  The Board vacancies are categorised as “UK” and “Rest of the World” and as such, there is no representation for any particular region.

The article, and more specifically the title of the article, carried in the Daily FT conveys an incorrect message to the membership of The Chartered Institute of Marketing as well as the general public.  As such we would request the Daily FT to publish a correction of this article in a prominent location and clarify the accurate position stated above.
