Egypt sees great potential from the Indian market. The target is to aim for 100,000-plus arrivals in 2010, which figure a tourism official said ‘is hoped’ will increase to one million by 2015, according to a report in TourExpi.com.

The Egyptian Tourist Office and Egyptian Tourism Authority have just concluded a two-day road show in Mumbai, for 200-tour operators from across India. Similar road shows are expected to be organised in other parts of the country. One of the major tourist attraction factors are the Bollywood film shootings in Egypt.

Adel El Masry, director, Egyptian Tourist Office, is quoted as having said that tourism was very important for Egypt as it contributes up to 11% of the GDP.
