Exciting in-house cocktail competition at Cinnamon Grand

The Cinnamon Grand held an in-house Cocktail Competition for its F&B associates on 21 April at Sequel, giving an opportunity for the F&B team to really show their colours.

Sequel was packed to capacity for the occasion with the 85 pax audience clamouring for the best vantage point! The competition was so popular that several of the hotel’s HODs dropped in to be a part of this exciting event!

The 14 participants came prepared for the occasion, and the lucky seven winners were chosen to represent the hotel at the Marie Brizzard Competition on 9 June.

The winners were Cheshan Buddhika, S. Prashath, Pradeep Jayasooriya, Thanushi Perera, P. Karunarathna, K. Maduruk and A. Sampath. They were each asked to make their own version of the globally popular ‘Cosmopolitan’.

The participants were judged on their performance and presentation skills as well as the colour and ingredients of their cocktail. They were also judged on both flairing and classic styles which provided the basis for their entry to the Marie Brizzard Cocktail Competition.

The judges included a Marie Brizzard Cocktail Competition alumni, Emali Gunasekera, who won the award for Classic Bartender at the 19th National All Island Marie Brizard Bartender Competition held on Sunday 18 July 2010.
