FCCISL, SLFFA and AITT partner for major joint initiative

Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka last week entered in to a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sri Lanka Freight Forwarders’ Association (SLFFA).

Tissa Jayaweera the president of FCCISL, Tony De Livera the Chairman of SLFFA, Dr. Thusitha Tennakoon the Secretary General of FCCISL, Peter Barbut CEO of AITT, signed in the MOU.

The collaboration between FCCISL and Academy for International Trade and Transport (AITT), the training arm of SLFFA is to develop and promote Professional Capacity Building Programmes (PCB) towards the process of developing Knowledge and Industry Skills to Increase Effectiveness in Job Performance and Productivity in the Transport, Logistic and Supply Chain Sectors island wide and conduct the training programmes through FCCISL Training Centre Network.

 “Education and Training” continues to be a vital component in addressing socio-economic development issues faced in many developing countries such as Sri Lanka.  In this context FCCISL with an impressive track record in this field for over 14 years is committed to workforce development with special emphasis on the SMEs at the regional levels.

With FCCISL’s regional network and close interaction with state sector establishments, FCCISL Training Centre Network will build upon work already done by the FCCISL-Chamber Partnership, in expanding its scope, and will also create important linkages between Public and Private Industries. FCCISL having wide experience in the field of Education and Training since 1993, and continues to be one of the leading private sector training providers.

SLFFA was established in 1981 in association with the International Federation of Freight Forwarding Associations (FIATA), Switzerland with the objective of bringing all Freight Forwarders under one umbrella and with a view to institutionalising and professionalising the trade. Today the Government, non Government agencies and the trade have recognised the SLFFA as the Apex body representing the industry.

AITT as the training arm of the SLFFA add significant value to long term training partnership by developing and timely revising the curriculum. All the training programmes are going to be coupled with in-plant trainings sessions and field visit to enhance the practical exposure of participants to the respective fields of studies. Uplifting the industrial acceptances for the training courses and trained students is a responsibility of AITT.

Vertical and horizontally diversified training portfolio such as  Multimodal Transport and Logistics, Trade and Transport, International Freight Forwarding, Logistic and Supply Chain Management, Port Management and Operations, Custom Practices, Border Protection and Export/Import Operations, Where house Management and Contract Logistic will enable new comers to become  professionals in Transport, Logistic and Supply Chain Sectors.
