High level Korean delegation meets Basil

The Government has discussed the possibility of obtaining more financial support from the Korean Government for the development of roads and water supply sectors in the country at a meeting held at the parliamentary complex on Friday.

A high level delegation from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance in Korea met Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and the Ministry officials at the parliamentary complex and focused on the priority projects of the Sri Lankan Government. According to Economic Development Ministry Additional Secretary Nihal Somaweera, the Korean Government has been providing financial assistance worth US$ 200 million to several projects in the country.

The Government delegation led by Minister Rajapaksa requested the increase in Korean financial assistance to the tune of US$ 500 so that more priority projects in the road and water supply sectors could be implemented. The Finance Ministry has finalised the list of priority projects which need additional support from the Korean Government.

The delegation said, they would consider giving priority to the government’s request.
