Hockey champs crowned

The 34th Annual Mercantile Seven-A-Side Hockey Tournament followed by an awards ceremony of league, Knock Out and Sevens was held recently at the P. Sara Oval Stadium.

The Mercantile Annual Seven is considered the “showpiece” in the calendar of Sri Lanka hockey and the event was attended by Rimoe Saldin, Chief Operating Officer of the Browns Group of Companies as the Chief Guest while Romani Saldin and V. Ganesh, Ex-Unilever Past Senior Vice President MHA (1978-2003) were Guests of Honour. The awards ceremony was held following the conclusion of the seven-a-side tournament. HNB won the League and Knock Out Tournament whilst Commercial Bank beat HNB to win the Sevens – Pix by Upul Abayasekara
