The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) together with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has planned for its next batch of Diploma in Information Systems, Security, Control and Audit (DISSCA) to be commenced in March 2011.
The joint effort towards launching this highly sought-after diploma runs back to 2002 and 429 students have been trained in 17 batches to date.
Harnessing world-class competencies in systems audit, control and security; enhancing technological skills of accounting professionals; empowering organisations and accounting professionals to face contemporary challenges in the current dynamic business environment; and establishing standards in systems security, control and audit, good governance and security practices are amongst the objective of launching this diploma.
Information security risk has come to the forefront of organisational risk portfolio in today’s environment where knowledge and information is considered one of vital assets of an organisation. Organisations have become increasingly vulnerable to information system related risks with increased exposure to IT related crimes. It is in this context that ICASL believes its efforts will meet this contemporary need.
Targeted at internal auditors, accountants and financial controllers who are engaging in the information systems control and security, the diploma is a 100 hour course that will have a balance of theory and practical hands on IT training and will be conducted by a well qualified lecture panel including the faculty of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
Information technology infrastructure; communication/networking technologies; protection of information assets; systems development lifecycle and application systems; business continuity planning; information systems organisation and management; and information systems audit process are topics that will be comprehended in the diploma.
