Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT), a pioneer institute in tertiary education in Sri Lanka, has expanded its offering with the inclusion of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the internationally recognised finance and accounting qualification, into its array of study programmes.

With IIT now offering ACCA, students will be able to attain this coveted qualification in an educational atmosphere matching international standards at an affordable cost.

All ACCA study programmes at IIT will be conducted by an ACCA qualified prize winning lecture panel who can guide students from beginning right through to achieving the qualification.

“When it comes to achieving ACCA qualifications, the quality of the lecture panel plays an important role. That’s why we took our utmost effort to select the best lecture panel for ACCA in Sri Lanka. Not only they can help students to achieve the qualification, but also they can truly guide students at every stage of the study programme to ensure the best results,” a spokesman for IIT said.

Other than the highly qualified lecture panel, IIT offers many other facilities to ACCA students that only a few other institutes can boast of. They include the interactive, friendly and computerised studying environment, free study pack and revision kit, air-conditioned lecture rooms and fully equipped state-of the-art library and mostly their expertise in Information Technology among many others. A special IT bridging programme is offered to students who study ACCA at IIT.

ACCA is the global body for professional accountants and it is the world’s fastest growing global professional qualification. Being ACCA qualified ensures great scope for career progression for individuals in the fields of accountancy, finance and management both locally and internationally.

Due to its outstanding career prospects and the high demand commanded by the top corporate entities for ACCA qualified professionals, today ACCA has become the most sought after qualification   in finance and accounting. The advantage of doing ACCA is that in two-and-a-half years students will have both a degree and the ACCA qualification, giving them an outstanding edge in their relevant career paths.

Students with minimum two credit passes at G.C.E. A/Ls and three credit passes at G.C.E O/Ls including mathematics and English and/or students with pending A/L results can enrol at IIT for ACCA. Students who don’t meet above requirements can enrol for Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) through flexible entry routes and then for ACCA.

Students who successfully completed the FIA or who have equivalent qualifications can follow the skills module of ACCA and get the BSc. (Hons) Applied Accountancy from Oxford Brookes University.

Graduates with accredited degrees from recognised institutions can enrol to study for ACCA provided they complete the Professional Ethics module. Relevant practical experience required for the ACCA qualification can also be gained before, during and after the exams.

IIT was established in the year 1990 with a vision to produce a new generation of highly qualified and internationally recognised IT professionals, IIT is a fully-fledged campus in Sri Lanka. The institute offers the exceptional opportunity to acquire a highly recognised full British degree here in Sri Lanka at a fraction of the cost.

The institute has almost two decades of experience in producing quality graduates. IIT has now diversified its offering to highly recognised accountancy and finance qualifications to enable students to have a leading edge in their professional paths to be in the fields of IT or business.
