Jumeirah Group, the Dubai-based luxury hotel company and member of Dubai Holding, has signed a management deal with Liuhe Group, a unit of Hangzhou-based WEI Jun, to operate a 139-room lake resort in Qiandaohu, China.

The Jumeirah Thousand Islands Lake Resort is situated on Qiandao Lake in the heart of the popular Hangzhou-Thousand Island Yellow Mountain Golden tourism route, 135 km from Hangzhou.

It is currently under development and is expected to open in 2014, a statement from Jumeirah said.

Surrounded by lush forests and offering beautiful lakeside views, the property will consist of a luxury hotel with 89 guest rooms and a further 50 rooms in villas dotted among the trees, it stated.

In addition, there will be an all-day dining restaurant together with two specialty waterside restaurants, a water-moon wine bar and a pool bar, it added.

Adjacent to the hotel will be a banquet and conference centre. A Talise spa will be available to guests along with swimming pools and a fitness and health centre.

The hotel is situated on Lake Qiandao, also known as Thousand Island Lake as it contains 1078 islands. The 573 square km lake lies in Chun’an County in Zhejiang Province, 280 km from Nanjing and 330 km from Shanghai.

Thousand-island Lake is located in subtropical climate zone and is categorised as a national scenic area and sits in the largest forest park in China. It is recognised as an ideal destination for tourism, leisure, vacation and conferences.

Jumeirah Group has five management agreements in China including hotels and resorts in Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Sanya, Macau and Shanghai. This new agreement for the Thousand Islands Lake Resort in China brings the total to 6, the statement said.
