As part of enhancing its offering of its WestMed service, Maersk Line announced a slot swap agreement with Hapag Lloyd’s Mediterranean Gulf Express (MGX) service.
New rotation for the WestMed service: Marsaxlokk, Malta – Gioia Tauro, Italy –Livorno, Italy – Genoa, Italy – Fos sur Mer, France – Valencia, Spain – Algeciras, Spain – Newark, New Jersey, US – Norfolk , Virginia, US – Savannah , Georgia, US– Marsaxlokk, Malta
Rotation for new Mediterranean Gulf Express (MGX) service: Cagliari, Italy – Livorno, Italy – Genoa, Italy – Barcelona, Spain – Valencia, Spain - Savannah, Georgia, US – Port Everglades, Florida, US – Houston , Texas, US – New Orleans , Louisiana, US – Port Everglades, Florida, US – Cagliari, Italy
This new improved coverage offers: New direct service from Barcelona, Spain and Valencia, Spain to the US East Coast and the US Gulf, New direct service from the US Gulf to Italy and Spain, New US ports added: New Orleans, Louisiana; Houston, Texas and Port Everglades, Florida, New Mediterranean ports added: Valencia, Spain; Barcelona, Spain and Cagliari, Italy
Maersk said the new services will commence on 1 March 2011 subject to final Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) approval.
