Maldives welcomes 750,000th tourist of the year

Even as she stepped down from the flight to spend winter vacation with her family in the ‘sunny side of life’, Mrs. Daniella Ruth Selig would have had absolutely no knowledge of the wonderful surprise that awaited her. What else could possibly be more amazing than a whole nation waiting for your arrival with bouquets, sashes and the best of their entertainment?

And that is not all, Mrs. Selig and her family were also presented with a complementary holiday package for being the 750,000th tourist of the year!

According to a Press Release by the President’s office, the President of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed welcomed Mrs. Selig and her family on Tuesday. In a meeting with the family at the President’s Office, the President said that he was delighted to welcome the 750,000th tourist to the Maldives this year.

The British couple also expressed their joy and said that they were surprised by the warmth in which they were received by the country. Being their second visit to the Maldives, the couple said that they were looking forward to visit the country again.

Mrs Selig who arrived in the Maldives with her husband and two children is spending her holiday at Anantara Dhigu Resort and Spa, Maldives.
