Premila appointed to JKH Board, Ranjit resigns

Top professional Premila Perera has been appointed to the Board of John Keells Holdings Plc as an Independent Non Executive Director. Her appointment follows the resignation of Ranjith Gunasekera. He was originally appointed to the JKH Board in July 2011. Formerly a partner at KPMG in Sri Lanka, Premila served the firm in that capacity from 1990 until she retired in 2013, at which time she was also the firm’s Head of Tax Services. During her tenure with the firm, she also performed various roles within the KPMG Global Organisation. She was the Regional Tax Director for the Asia Pacific Region, whilst being located in Singapore and a member of a multidisciplinary multicultural Global Tax Force commissioned by the firm’s International Board and mandated to define long-term strategy. Premila has also served on the faculty of the Tax Business School of KPMG International and a secondment with the firm’s USA National Tax Office in Washington DC, and was a participant at the KPMG-INSEAD International Banking School Program. She is currently a member of the Main Committee of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and was a presenter/moderator at various KPMG client fora as well as a resource person at fora organised by professional bodies, chambers of commerce and USAID. Premila, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, currently serves as an Independent Director and Chairperson of the Audit Committee of Ceylon Tobacco Company Plc and is also a Non Executive Director of Holcim (Lanka) Ltd. With the latest changes, the Board of JKH comprises S.C. Ratnayake (Chairman/CEO), A.D. Gunewardene (Deputy Chairman), J.R.F. Peiris, E.F.G. Amerasinghe, T. Das, I. Coomaraswamy, A. Omar, A. Cabraal, N. Fonseka and P. Perera.
