President asks public officials to be sensitive to people’s problems

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has said that the trust placed in the security forces in saving the country has now been placed in public servants in building the country.

Addressing a function at Temple Trees on Saturday (8) to present awards and certificates to District Secretariats and Divisional Secretariats that received ISO 9001/2008 International Standards certificates, the President said that he had witnessed the public undergoing hardships due to the inefficiency of public officials and that they should be sensitive to people’s problems as it is the people who pay them.

Three District Secretariats and Seventeen Divisional Secretariats received awards from the President for receiving the ISO 9001 certificates for their service.

Members of the Maha Sangha, Ministers John Seneviratne, Dinesh Gunawardena, Gamini Lokuge, and Pavithra Devi Wanniarachchi, Governor of Western Province Alevi Moulana, Deputy Minister of Public Administration Vijaya Dahanayake, Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunge, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration P.B Abeykoon, parliamentarians, members of the PC councils and distinguished invitees were present at the function.
