President pledges to develop every corner of the country

PRESIDENT Mahinda Rajapaksa today assured to carry forward the national development programme to benefit the public in every corner of the island without discrimination.

President Rajapaksa made this pledge at the United People's Freedom Alliance's (UPFA) Mannar District rally held yesterday at the Mannar Urban Council Sports Stadium under the theme of "Sapiri Gamak- Supiri Ratak" (Self-sufficient village towards a prosperous nation).

Addressing the large gathering at the rally, the President said he is dedicated to serve the public as the president of each citizen and the government is committed to create a peaceful and harmonious society sans hatred.

The Northern Province will be provided with adequate infrastructure facilities under the Northern Spring programme, the President assured.

Ministers Milroy Fernando, Rishad Bathiudeen, and Governor of the Northern Province G.A. Chandrasiri and were also present.
