The government yesterday said the vehicle emission testing carried out in the country has helped the government earn a revenue of Rs. 940 million.
Transport Minister Kumar Welgama told parliament that since the inception of the project, the government has earned this income from the vehicle emission testing companies.
The Minister said in response to a query by DNA MP Sunil Handunnetti that there are currently 99 vehicle emission testing stations with 110 more mobile units operating island wide.
The government has made it a requirement for owners to submit a certificate in vehicle emission testing to renew vehicle licences. (www.colombopage.com)
