Sithaka brews a hat trick

Sithaka Tea Factory famous for its quality of teas being produced on a weekly basis and obtaining weekly top prices at the Colombo tea auctions recorded and established an all time record price for the BOP-1 grade at Rs.770 on 22 December tea auctions conducted by Deshan Bandaranayake of John Keells Plc.

This surpassed its two own previous all time record prices of Rs.710 and 740 which were established at the previous week’s auction of 7 and 14 December 2010 respectively.

The garden is owned by Lallith Liyanage of RTS Group. Sri Lankan Tea has a reputation as finest tea in the world and it contributes to the country’s GDP in a large scale yearly.

Sabaragamuwa, the largest province in Sri Lanka has a constant rainfall, the warm and humid climate which is ideal for cultivating and manufacturing low grown type of tea.RTS group has nine subsidiaries at present, namely Sithaka/Avissawella Tea Factory, Hidellana Tea Factory, R. T. S. Tea Nursery, R. T. S. Heavy Equipment, R. T. S. Engineering, R. T. S. Metal Crusher, Bopath Falls Rock Chalets, and R. T. S. Agribusiness and Lake Serenity Bouquet Hotel.
