Unleashing potential
SLIM Marketing Roks is an innovative program launched with the intention of exposing Advanced Level (A/L) students to important marketing lessons and unleashing their potential to become future marketers. Since 2009, it has succeeded in educating a large number of students from various schools on the art of developing and managing a business entity. Marketing Roks has been acclaimed as a ‘Sri Lankan first’ – a national level community-driven program carried out by a professional educational institute – and has grown in popularity each year.
SLIM President Gamika De Silva stated: “The primary objective of SLIM, a noble national responsibility and indeed my vision, is to aggressively promote marketing within the school system which contains the next generation of marketers. Exposure to modern marketing principles will arm them with the knowledge necessary to succeed in the corporate world in their youth and enrich the field of marketing. Our effort through Marketing Roks is to inculcate the discipline of marketing for students and provide them the direction on marketing opportunities for future careers.”
SLIM Marketing Roks Project Chairman Roshan Fernando added: “I am greatly encouraged by the response this project has received from schools in Kandy and, in particular, the Southern Province. Plans are in place to further expand the reach of Marketing Roks and provide opportunities for students outside Colombo to represent their schools at a national level competition.”
SLIM CEO /Executive Director Sanath Senanayake noted: “SLIM Marketing Roks is an important stepping stone to the marketing field for school students both in and out of Colombo and I am truly pleased with the progress it has made since 2009. I firmly believe that the totality of its positive impact on the Sri Lankan corporate sector will be realised in years to come.”
SLIM Marketing Roks 2014 is powered by Clean and Clear and organised by Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing in association with Alethea International School. The second round of the Gaming Session will be carried out on 7 February 2014.
