In its constant drive to offer Sri Lankans the best possible educational opportunities and qualifications, the country’s national marketing body, the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) is offering an internationally recognised MBA programme from the Buckinghamshire New University in the UK.
A large number of top end professionals in the corporate world have already taken advantage of this offer by SLIM. Designed to keep abreast with fast changing international marketing trends, this 18 month MBA programme is an all-rounded qualification and has already come in for praise from students across the board.
Established in 1893, the Buckinghamshire New University is a top-tier university in the UK with a rich history of academic excellence spanning over a hundred years. It has built a national reputation for its work, while achieving international recognition for its specialist areas of expertise. The University provides quality higher education which develops and builds the potential of individuals and thus contributes to the organisations they work for.
The University was named ‘Enterprising Educator of the Year 2010’ by the Bucks Economic & Learning Partnership and was also ranked number one in The Halifax-Times Higher Education quality of life index, designed to measure the quality of life of academic staff at 121 higher education institutions in the UK.
Dr. K. T. Iraivan, Assistant General Manager Operations at Lanka Hospitals says he chose the Bucks MBA for its recognition and reputation in Sri Lanka and also its convenience. “Being a busy medical administrator, I opted to follow this MBA to enhance my knowledge in business background with the intention to gain maximum knowledge in the non-medical administration side including HR, Finance, Marketing etc. The flexible payment scheme is also very attractive.”
Tharanga Jayawickrema, Marketing Manager at Bayer Health Care says, “The lecture times are flexible giving students greater accessibility to both local facilitators and the university tutors. The Blackboard is a very interactive web-based study tool, from assignment uploads to discussions. Doing reference from its library has also been a very delightful experience.”
Head of Standard Quality Assurance, Investment, Legal and Special Projects of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, Ministry of Tourism Dileep Mudadeniya says, “Most corporates are incredibly busy and simply do not have time to attend daily lectures etc. Furthermore with the rapid development of technology, the need for classroom-style lectures is also rapidly diminishing. With its flexible timelines, this MBA programme from the Buckinghamshire New University fits into our hectic lifestyles and is thus the ideal solution. It is both cost and time efficient.”
Incorporated by an Act of Parliament, SLIM is Sri Lanka’s national apex marketing body with more than 40 years of service to the nation. It has, over the years, made available high class and quality education to thousands of Sri Lankans in the sphere of marketing and ancillary areas. In its drive to produce professional and trained marketers, SLIM has conducted very successful projects, expanded its reach to regions and strengthened its educational activities. SLIM is also a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka, the Association of Business Schools UK, the Asia Marketing Federation and the World Marketing Federation.
“With Sri Lanka’s burgeoning post-war economic landscape, the need for professional and trained marketers is even greater. I’m happy with our tie-up with the Buckinghamshire New University on this high quality MBA programme. Not only does it give students an internationally recognised academic qualification but also a strong marketing tool with which they can hold their own anywhere,” says President of SLIM Rohan Somawansa.
