“Globalisation has facilitated the United States to become the topmost global provider of higher education over the past several decades.

This has been the main reason for the United States to host more international students than any other country in the world which amounts to nearly 600,000.  Some of the most important pull factors that contributed to attract international students to study in the U.S. would be the availability of most exciting, rewarding and comprehensive array of study options in the world, quality of education provided by renounced and world top ranked  U.S. universities and  colleges  and the fact that international students who successfully complete their U.S. study are being highly sought after by employers worldwide.

In recognition of the eminent role  played  in delivering  US style of higher education in  Sri Lanka for over 16 years with the academic collaboration of Broward College, Florida, USA,  the US accrediting Commission on Colleges,  the Southern  Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) has approved the American College  of Higher Education (ACHE) as an International Centre of the Broward College.  This new recognition of the  ACHE  marks a significant milestone  of its extensive service in becoming the first ever Sri Lankan higher education institute ever approved by   an U.S. accrediting  agency.

This institutional elevation and recognition achieved by the American College of Higher Education  is a result  of long standing academic collaboration with Broward College and by satisfying various academic and administrative standards.  It came through a long term and rigourous evaluation process   carried out by the US accrediting commission.  This involved the quality of  the delivery of Broward academic programmes  delivered at ACHE,  academic qualifications of the  teaching faculty involved in Broward programme and  the infrastructure facilities provided to the students on par with US standards.

The academic partnership took  over  during a long period between American College of higher Education and Broward College  resulted in  promoting American style of education island wide through its network of five branch campuses. A large number of students trained under this programme have found placement in reputed universities in the U.S. and other countries like UK, Australia and Canada. Almost all of them have successfully completed their studies and gainfully employed in different parts of the world. Some of them have proceeded to further education to pursue their postgraduate education.

Established in 1959, Broward College, Florida is the largest and oldest State College in Florida county which serves over 70, 000 student population on three campuses in South Florida.  The college has expanded its horizon of education through its International Education Programme since 1974.  International academic programmes of Broward College have been successfully carried out in more than 50 countries on six continents.  Among these international collaborations only three institutions namely, the Centre for American Education in Singapore, Broward College of Ecuador and American College of Higher Education have so far received the U.S. accrediting agency approval to become International Centres of Broward College.

The major benefits of this recognition and elevation of ACHE as an International offshore campus of Broward College  are for the students  and they automatically become Broward  students  who  take part in same U.S. curriculum (as Florida students) while attending BC classes in Sri Lanka.  Furthermore, ACHE students will be entitled to many other benefits as follows.

Students will be issued a Broward transcript and a Broward degree. The Broward degree is recognised worldwide and students can now transfer to over 4000 universities and colleges in the USA and other countries, to pursue their higher studies

Students can complete many Broward College Associate degrees and Bachelors degree  programmes at the American College.  They also benefit from instructions from Broward visiting professors and students may also join Broward study abroad programmes in the summer term and take coursework in Europe, South America, Asia and Africa.

Provisions are available for students to become prestigious members of the U.S. National Honours Institute through which they can improve their entry prospects to high ranking universities of the USA.

American College of Higher Education is pleased to invite the students who seek higher education prospects in USA  and their parents to  attend the seminar  conducted by the eminent  professors from Broward College on 1 April 2011  at 1 p.m onwards at Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel, Colombo.
