Several senior members from Sri Lanka’s main opposition United National Party (UNP) have decided to meet with the party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe and leadership hopeful, UNP Hambantota District parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa.
UNP MPs John Amaratunga, Joseph Michael Perera, and Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena are to first meet with Wickremasinghe and later with Premadasa to discuss the necessity to safeguard the party unity.
Dr. Jayawardena has told the media that everyone needed to understand the true situation and the call by the party membership. However, the party unity should not be compromised at any cost.
The three UNP seniors are scheduled to meet with Wickremasinghe today while they are to meet with Premadasa in the next few days. (Colombo Page)
