Cricket Australia (CA) has said it has no interest in former leg-spinner Shane Warne’s private life, and his dalliance with British actress-cum model Liz Hurley would not threaten his standing as the board’s spin ambassador.

“Our only interest in Shane is in his abilities as a spin bowling ambassador and coach. His private life is his business,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted a CA spokesperson, as saying.

Warne and Hurley have conducted a public flirtation via Twitter since July.

Allegations of a steamy affair surfaced when they were caught on film in a succession of passionate public embraces in London.

Earlier, Hurley had said that she had separated from her husband Arun Nayer, while Warne had admitted that he was no longer with Simone Callahan Warne has three children while Hurley has one son, Damian, by an American businessman.

Hurley’s tweeted announcement comes amid reports in British tabloids linking her romantically to Australian cricket star Shane Warne. Warne yesterday confirmed that he has also split from his wife.

“Not a great day,” Hurley, 45, tweeted Sunday. “For the record, my husband Arun & I separated a few months ago.”
