Come next week, Colombo will be host to a unique development, when a global meeting of Buddhists will listen to business.

The All Ceylon Buddhist Congress (ACBC) is hosting the 25th General Council of the World Fellowship of Buddhists   and the 60th anniversary celebrations in Sri Lanka. Around 600 delegates representing 164 regional centres from 40 countries will be present.

ACBC Vice President and Secretary Organising Committee Major general Sunil Tennakoon said that, considering the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in the country, the organisation had decided to hold a Business Forum of the member countries’ business leaders.

The forum, scheduled to be held at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel, will enable participants and others to obtain firsthand knowledge of “new investment opportunities in an emerging Asian business centre”.

Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Treasury Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera will be among senior officials of the Government who will make presentations. Tennakoon said that Dr. Jayasundera would deliver the keynote address titled ‘New Investment Policy Regime in Sri Lanka’.

The series of events is also an excellent opportunity for Sri Lanka to promote the country as a leading Buddhist nation in the world.
