A group of young talented musicians are currently performing at the Bandaranaike International Airport to add excitement to passengers during the festive season and to support the BIA Christmas shopping Festival.
The group of youngsters in the age group of 17 to 22 years would perform throughout December during predetermined time slots performing on a piano and a violin.
“This group of young talented musicians would transform the atmosphere at the BIA during the festive month of December. We also want to give an opportunity to talented young musicians to perform at an important place like the BIA so that their talents are recognised to build a career for their future,” said Dimantha Kinigama, CEO of Alpha Orient Lanka, representing the Steering Committee organising the Shopping Festival.
The BIA shopping Festival, which was launched on 15 November 2010, will run until 15 January 2011, making it the first mega promotion in the ‘Visit Sri Lanka 2011’ calendar year.
The festival is organised by Airport and Aviation Services Ltd. in collaboration with the 57 outlets in the departure Lounge of the BIA. This promotion and festival which has been organised for the first time in the history of the airport aims to promote both the airport and Sri Lanka as a great destination for global travellers.
