Around 14% of UAE’s GDP is being contributed by the supply chain and logistics sector which has become an integral part of the country’s economy, said a top Dubai Chamber official.

“The secret of Dubai’s success as a supply chain and logistics hub is its air-sea-land multi-modular transportation options.

Dubai’s supply chain and logistics sectors are dominated by DP World, Dubai World Central, Jafza and Dubai International Airport,”  remarked Atiq J. Nassib, the senior director, Dubai Chamber.

“Cargo Village and Port Rashid also play a significant role in the industry.

Dubai’s supply chain and logistics sector saw growth even during the downturn and will continue to grow. Dubai is an attractive destination for the global logistics firms due to the city’s modern and extensive infrastructure,” he added.

He was addressing a gathering of logistics industry experts from over 20 countries at the ‘6th Global Logistics and Supply Chain summit’ held last week in Dubai.
