CMA CGM Lanka, the joint venture partner of French shipping giant CMA-CGM Group, emerged victorious at the recently held ICS Awards 2021, organised by the Sri Lanka chapter of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers – UK. The company was recognised as the best liner shipping agent for 2021 in the Colombo-Indian Subcontinent trade, Colombo-Red Sea and Gulf trade and Overall Imports trade categories.
Commenting on the win, CMA CGM Lanka Ltd. Director/General Manager Umindha Dunuwille said, “It takes exceptional team loyalty and dedication to be able to deliver beyond customer expectations during such unprecedented times like that of the past year. I’m indeed proud of my team who went above and beyond the call of duty during the year 2020 to ensure that we always delivered on our promises to our customers. These awards are a testament to the exceptional customer service that we offer our clientele across the globe.”
With the COVID-19 pandemic severely affecting global trade and logistics, the industry as a whole had to make radical changes and adapt swiftly in order to ensure that the flow of goods was not hindered. The CMA-CGM Lanka team was one of the fastest to adapt by putting stringent processes in place supported by system enhancements which were designed to manage the challenges of the new normal. This coupled with exceptional teamwork was the winning formula for CMA-CGM Lanka to excel in their service offering, despite the challenging times in 2020.
Umindha went on to add, “An achievement of this nature would not have been possible without the support of our loyal customers who stood by us and even worked with us, in ensuring that we created a winning solution.”
CMA CGM Lanka Ltd. is the joint venture partner in Sri Lanka and Maldives for France’s CMA CGM Group, the fourth largest container carrier in the world. The company ushered in the largest vessel to ever call the port of Colombo in September 2015, establishing Colombo’s ability to cater to Ultra Large Container Carriers as the only deep water terminal in the South Asian Region. Since being established in 1989, CMA-CGM Lanka has offered tailor made solutions to its clientele through its extensive feeder network and reliable mainline services.
