Ceyline Group’s Mevan Peiris appointed to CSC Board

Ports and Shipping Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena meeting with Ceyline Group Director Mevan Peiris 


The Minister of Ports and Shipping Rohitha Abeygunawardena has appointed Ceyline Group Director Mevan Peiris to the Board of Ceylon Shipping Corporation Ltd. (CSC).

Peiris is also a Director of CINEC Campus, the leading maritime education institute in Sri Lanka. An alumnus of Monash University, Peiris has over 12 years of experience in the shipping and logistics industry. He also brings international shipping experience to the table, with his five-year stint at the Australian national carrier, ANL Container Line (CMA CGM Group). 

The Minister advised the CSC Chairman Wineendra Weeraman and the new Board members to re-evaluate the current operating model at CSC and come up with new strategies and innovative ideas to revive the once-mighty shipping corporation. 

The Minister further stressed the importance of making CSC a profitable entity as soon as possible. 

The first meeting of the new CSC Board will be scheduled for the end of October.
