The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) has organised a comprehensive full day seminar on ‘Changes in Incoterms with 2020 Edition and Customs Clearing Procedure’ to be held tomorrow, 26 November from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo 3.

CNCI’s Secretary General, Abeyratne Muthugala said that there will be some changes to the International Commercial Terms (Incoterms) which will be effective from January 2020 with introduction of the latest version of ‘Incoterms 2020’.

According to Global Negotiator Blog (Contracts, Documents and Publications for International Business) the new Incoterms 2020 have already been published by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) as the body that publishes these rules since 1930. In last decades, there has always been a revision of the Incoterms coinciding with the first year of each of them: 1990, 2000, 2010. The latest version is that of Incoterms 2020 which is expected to be in effect for a decade, until December 2029.

He mentioned that this seminar will be very useful for many of the company employees engaged in the procurement, logistics and administrative areas under imports and exports and international trade.

The seminar will be conducted by Ranjith Lamahewa, who is a former Additional Director General of Sri Lanka Customs with expertise and decades of experience in the field.

The areas expected to be covered at the seminar include an Overview of Imports and Exports, Incoterm Changes in 2020 Edition, Delivery Terms and Payment Terms.

Reserve seats early by contacting CNCI secretariat by phone or through [email protected] due to limited placements available. Participants will be awarded with a valid certificate and discounts will be given to the companies sending three or more participants.
