China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC) on 1 March donated a state-of-the-art Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machine and test equipment to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA).
CHEC Deputy Managing Director – Sri Lanka Huang Daojun and delegation, including CHEC Director – Procurement Department Li Yu and Ji Shuen, handed over the donation to the SLPA Chairman General Daya Ratnayake at a function held at the SLPA Boardroom.
SLPA continues to maintain an optimal operating environment in the Port of Colombo despite the prevailing COVID-19 situation.
Taking this situation into consideration, the PCR machine and test equipment were donated by CHEC to SLPA at the request of the SLPA Chairman General Ratnayake.
Gen. Ratnayake, in response to his request, and on behalf of SLPA and all affiliated services, conveyed his immense gratitude and thankfulness to CHEC and the Chinese Government.
SLPA MD H.D.A.S. Premachandra, Additional MD – Operations Upul Jayatissa, Additional MD – Technical Susantha Abeysiriwardena, Director – Human Resource Developmen Nalin Aponso, Chief Medical Officer Dr. U.S. Jayasekara and several other high-ranking officials of SLPA were also present at the occasion.
