The only program of its kind, the mission of this endeavour is to stimulate and inspire youngsters’ horizons of aviation, whilst also encouraging enthusiasts who are looking to widen their knowledge on domestic aviation to engage in their passion.
Commencing in October 2020, The Young Aviator’s Programme will be held in three batches of interactive and dynamic one day workshops, aimed at anyone above the age of eight years. Participants will be engaged in a familiarisation tour of the Cinnamon Air maintenance Hangar and domestic terminal at the Bandaranaike International Airport and will get to interact with a training Captain (pilot) and Aircraft Engineers. Participants will also be treated to an experience of a lifetime as they will get to experience an exhilarating end to the scenic aerial tour from Colombo International Airport to Colombo City with a water landing at Waters Edge or Kelaniya.
“Cinnamon Air has been playing an essential role in the Sri Lankan tourism industry, since 2013, being the only domestic airline that provides connections by way of scheduled flights from Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) to key tourist destinations across the country, operating around 80-100 scheduled flights a week. We have gained immense knowledge and insights on operating domestically and we believe it is our responsibility to share this knowledge with aspiring young aviators. So we are thrilled at the prospect of offering this programme and our stellar team of esteemed pilots and engineers look forward to encourage and impart their invaluable knowledge and experience with the participants,” said Cinnamon Air Chief Executive Officer Sean Dwight.
Cinnamon Air commits to the contribution of inspiring future leaders of the aviation industry and believes the Young Aviator’s Programme is an ideal platform to nurture aviation aspirations and therefore encourages youngsters to be a part of this one-of-a-kind experience.
