Commercial Law Development Program of USA conducts training for SLPA

The Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the United States Department of Commerce (DoC), implemented a capacity building program in Colombo to enhance knowledge and reinforce best practices to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) senior staff.

The program was funded by the Department of State (DoS) and implemented by the CLDP with the facilitation of the Colombo Plan and the US Embassy in Colombo.

The full-day program attended by 40 senior engineering, legal and administrative staff of SLPA covered the areas of public/private partnerships, landlord models and best practices in sustainability initiatives including the modernising of SLPA terminals, electrification and automation to ensure Sri Lanka’s competitive edge as a hub in the region.

It was facilitated by Rebel Group (The Netherlands) senior port consultant Wim Welvaarts (main presenter) and Colombo Plan Maritime Administration Program on capacity building lead consultant Rohan Masakorala while the program was designed and coordinated by CLPD Senior Counsel Lindsey Scannell, and Senior International Program Specialist Maxwell Gruber, and SAGT CEO Romesh David contributed as a guest speaker.
