The Institute of Shipping and Logistics (IOSL) has commenced its regular classroom Diploma in Shipping and Logistics program.
As lectures were not possible during the recent lockdown period, the IOSL launched a very successful online/distance learning program targeting school-leavers and beginners in the industry. The classroom diploma course, which consists of 25 modules, includes the Certificate in Logistics Services and Freight Forwarding, which is a mandatory program authorised by the Director General of Merchant Shipping of the Ministry of Ports and Shipping. This curriculum consists of 16 modules, and the institute teaches a further nine salient modules leading to the diploma. These courses are also available to outstation and overseas learners on a distant learning basis. Further information can be obtained by contacting the institute’s hotline 0777 891 767 or email [email protected]
Over the year, the IOSL has awarded many scholarships for deserving participants to pursue its diploma courses. In the recent past it awarded a scholarship each in 2019 and 2020 to the Sri Lanka Shippers Council with a view to assisting the SLSC in their capacity-building program.
IOSL Founder and CEO/Managing Director Gihan Warusavitarne said that an Advanced Diploma in Logistics would be launched very soon, which would be the entrance qualification for their proposed master’s degree to be awarded by an affiliated overseas university. The IOSL plans to launch a very special diploma course in the near future, catering to practitioners in the maritime and logistics industry. This new program will also create job opportunities for newcomers. Details are to be announced in due course.
