Scanwell Logistics said last week it is gearing up for a transformative year of growth and development, of their operations in Colombo, Bangladesh, India, and UAE, where the company is expanding its footprint, enhancing service quality, and minimising environmental impact to align with global sustainability goals.
Scanwell Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Executive Director Priyan Seilman highlighted the company›s strategic growth plans in Colombo, that includes upgrading technology infrastructure and enhancing logistical capabilities to manage larger volumes of goods more efficiently. Concurrently, Scanwell is fortifying its operations in Bangladesh by investing in advanced technologies and comprehensive training programs, aimed at equipping employees with the latest skills and knowledge, enabling them to maintain high service standards.
Scanwell India and the UAE Executive Director Razmal Assen announced plans to expand in India with strategically located warehouses in Ahmedabad, Agra, and Pune. In the UAE, Scanwell will independently manage transhipment cargo from countries including Bangladesh, India, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and GCC nations like Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Furthermore, the company has established new offices in Kenya and Mombasa, broadening its presence in the African region. Scanwell also aims to consolidate and expand its market presence in Colombo, Bangladesh, India, and the UAE through digital transformation, refining operations, and enhancing services to provide clients with unparalleled transparency and efficiency.
Scanwell’s efforts have garnered several prestigious awards. In Colombo, the company received the silver award from the National Chamber of Exports as a distinguished service provider and earned ethical trading certifications for 2022 and 2023, whilst in Bangladesh, they achieved GDP certification for their pharmaceutical logistics division. Additionally, Scanwell Logistics India and UAE have reached notable milestones, with Scanwell UAE quickly establishing itself as a trusted logistics partner.
Scanwell said it is also deeply committed to corporate social responsibility.
“We are the title sponsor for Bridge2Peace Schools, supporting education, meals, and supplies for underprivileged children and women in Lunugamvehera, Diyatalawa, and Mullaitivu. We also contribute medicines annually to the National Cancer Hospital,” said Seilman.
He further emphasised that Scanwell is committed to diversity and inclusion within their workforce. “Our recruitment process is free from bias, using gender-neutral language and diverse interview panels. We’ve actively recruited candidates from various backgrounds for leadership roles.”
He noted that staff retention is at a remarkable 95% in their Colombo office with staff having over 20 years of experience. “Our younger staff members have a commendable over 8 years of experience, reflecting a workplace culture that values and nurtures its employees. In India and the UAE, we maintain a balanced workforce with a mix of long-tenured employees and younger staff, promoting stability, continuity, and the achievement of our targets.”
Scanwell was the first logistics company in Sri Lanka to introduce a custom bonded warehouse facility, supporting the apparel industry.
