Shippers’ Academy Colombo said the Sri Lankan economy was moving towards an unknown abyss at the beginning of this year.
The policy decisions that had taken place in the previous two years was fast taking the country and its economy to a standstill affecting the livelihoods of all Sri Lankans.
The debacle started with the taxation policies that cascade down to international ratings linked with a fixed exchange regime and low interest rates and a host of other policy mismanagement of the macro economy. The new Governor took over the helm and the challenges of the country at the worst time in its history.
Given the circumstances and the policies adopted since then, CBSL is putting the country back again in the right path slowly and steadily and it is correct to say that we are at a critical juncture as we approach the next level of discussion with the IMF.
