Sri Lanka Shippers’ Council successfully conducted its 53rd Annual General Meeting at the Kingsbury Hotel on 6 July.
Sri Lanka Tea Board Chairman Niraj De Mel graced the occasion as the distinguished Chief Guest.
During the meeting, MAS Holdings Director – Logistics Sean Van Dort was elected as the Chairman, while Lalan Rubbers Ltd. General Manager – Shipping and Customer Service Trisherman Frink and Flintech Transducers Ltd. Managing Director Tyronne Weckasinghe, were appointed as 1st Vice Chairman and 2nd Vice Chairman respectively. Martin Bauer Hayleys Ltd. Head of Logistics Russell Juriansz will serve the committee as the Immediate Past Chairman.
The Sri Lanka Shippers’ Council has throughout a rich history of over 50 years effectively represented the interests of the shipping industry in Sri Lanka. Established in 1966 as the first national Shippers’ Council, it now comprises 17 product member associations and over 50 individual members representing almost all industries engaged in international trade, making it one of the most vibrant industry councils in the country
