SriLankan Cargo, the cargo arm of SriLankan Airlines, has clinched Silver Award in Airline category at the recent National Logistics Awards, organised by the Sri Lanka Logistics and Freight Forwarders Association (SLFFA). This achievement reinforces SriLankan Cargo’s prominent status in Sri Lanka’s logistics industry. The National Logistics Awards aim to recognise and reward individuals and entities in the sector with the intention of elevating industry standards.
SriLankan Airlines Head of Cargo Chaminda Perera expressed his thoughts on the win, stating, “We are happy that our efforts as the national carrier, to boost the economy of the export and import industry, are recognised by this award. Our partnerships, which include over 130 agreements with other airlines and six road feeder services, have expanded our reach to more than 200 destinations worldwide.”
Winners in the Airline category were assessed on several criteria, including the total volume uplifted, special cargo handling capabilities, innovations, new products and value-added services. SriLankan Cargo checked off on all these factors, proving its merit in all areas that make an operator a significant contributor in the air logistics ecosystem.
Having transported nearly 100,000 tons of air cargo in the past year – a considerable volume for a commercial passenger airline with no dedicated freighter aircraft – SriLankan Cargo has also embarked on an innovation drive. This initiative includes global partnerships with digital freight solutions providers to simplify and enhance airfreight booking and payment processes. Recently, SriLankan Cargo reinvented its service delivery framework by introducing product verticals Freshness Class, Wellness Class, Precious Class and Guardian Class, tailored to diverse requirements of different types of cargo.
SriLankan Cargo has been providing connectivity for shipments across the Middle East, Europe, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Far East and Australia, with an online network of 30 destinations in 21 countries and an offline network that extends to hundreds more global cities. Leveraging on road and partner networks, SriLankan Cargo is able to provide customers the flexibility to move cargo beyond the points which SriLankan Airlines directly serves.
