MS excel is an essential, and a productive tool for businesses/services when companies are into various trade facilitations including international trade and services. Knowledge on handling numerous business tools provided through MS excel can reduce the number of tasks, work stations that are needed to complete a job function in an office to manage such operations in a leaner manner. In addition individuals and companies can do professional analysis of data and can come up with innovative solution for the organisation and clients as well to manage day to day functions in a productive and an efficient manner. The Shippers’ Academy Colombo in its research has found that many companies are not optimising technology solutions even though they have invested in hardware/software. The problem is they have less emphasis in training the soft skills to people to accomplish more to the organisations by training staff to use such technology with greatest efficiency. This is a serious gap when harnessing and harmonising the best use of technology.
