Cargo Boat toasts 70 years of service to shipping, logistics industry

Cargo Boat Company Limited Colombo celebrated its 70th Anniversary event recently, attended by its Board of Directors, shareholders, family members and well wishers.
The company was established in 1944 by late M.S. Abdul Rahman under the name of Indian Cargo Boat Company to represent vessel owners of break bulk vessels plying between Sri Lanka and India. Seventy years later the second and third generation family members of late M.S. Abdul Rahman have made radical changes in tune with the changing times and business landscape to such an extent that today the small break bulk shipping agency has expanded to include a diverse portfolio of services within the spectrum of what is now recognised as the Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management Industry under the name of Cargo Boat Company Limited.
The company is part of the Capitol Group of Companies which include Capitol Overseas Courier Service Ltd, K. Darwin & Company Ltd and Kara Property Development Co. Ltd. Apart from the traditional ship agency functions undertaken by Cargo Boat Company Ltd. the company also offers a multitude of services as a class “A” Non vessel operating common carrier registered with the Department of Merchant Shipping. Customs brokerage, ocean and air freight, personal effects, trans-shipment operations, multi country consolidations, transportation and warehousing are some of the services offered. The company also has a long history of membership with the Ceylon Association of Ships agents and the Sri Lanka Logistics & Freight Forwarders Association.Cargo Boat Company today proudly stands out as one of the leading integrated logistics solutions providers in Sri Lanka.
