CILT International Conference 2015: ‘Logistics to Power the World’

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Sri Lanka will be holding its flag ship event, the International Conference on 19 November. This is a much awaited event for the logistics and transport industry to showcase its latest developments in logistics and transport. 

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Logistics to Power the World’. The organising committee strongly believes that this theme will complement the vision of the Sri Lankan Government to develop the service sector of the country for economic prosperity. It is noteworthy to mention that the previous year’s event was well received by all present and was a huge success with over 400 participants.

The conference will be held at The Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo and will attract the participation of over 350 representing organisations from logistics and transport industry, industry leaders, academia and students studying in this sector and delegates from foreign countries providing an excellent networking opportunity with other organisations in the  sector. Local and International speakers of repute will be addressing at the conference.

CILT is a worldwide professional body with an established International pedigree. With over 33,000 members working in over 100 countries, the CILT spans the globe. It is an organisation that offers significant benefits to all its members, as well as a complete suite of educational courses internationally. Established in 1919 and receiving its Royal Charter in 1926, the institute has an exciting history behind it, but is always adapting to stay consistent with current logistics and transport issues. The institute’s Patron is Princess Royal. 

CILT Sri Lanka was established in 1984 and incorporated by the Parliamentary Act No. 08 of 2000. In 2012 The Council of Trustees of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) upgraded the status of CILT Sri Lanka from a Branch to a Territory. In doing so the Council of Trustees recognised the high standards of performance, governance and membership development evidenced in CILT Sri Lanka over the past several years.

 Presently CILT Sri Lanka has over 1200 members who are highly qualified in the transport and logistics fields. CILT Sri Lanka is governed by a Council consisting of professionals representing all segments of the transport and logistics industry and consists of two forums namely Women in Logistics and Transport (WiLAT) and Young Professionals’ Forum (YPF) dedicated to promote women and young professionals in the logistics and transport industry.
