The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport’s (CILT) annual convention and conference, generally alternated between the UK and a different territory or branch location each year, is recognised worldwide as the showcase event of the CILT international calendar. This year, the global convention and the AGM will be hosted in Colombo, from this week.

In collaboration with the CILT convention, the annual international conference hosted by CILT Sri Lanka will be held on 5 June at the Kingsbury, Colombo, on the theme ‘Future of Logistics and Transport from a Global Perspective’.

The event will be graced by many eminent personalities in the global logistics arena and will provide an ideal learning and networking opportunity for logistics professionals in the country. During the week-long activities, around 300 participants, including a large number of foreign delegates, are expected to take part in this international convention and conference.

CILT in Sri Lanka was established almost 40 years ago and formalised by an Act of Parliament in 2000. The council of Trustees of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in 2012 upgraded CILT Sri Lanka to a territory of the institute in recognition of the exceptional growth and governance of the institute branch. Presently, CILT Sri Lanka has over 1,100 members.

Established in the UK in 1919, CILT is the leading global professional body associated with logistics. Having received the Royal Charter in 1926, the institute has an exciting history but is always adapting to stay consistent with current logistics and transport issues.  With Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as its patron, the institute holds unparalleled international recognition and works towards servicing its objectives of promoting and encouraging the art and science of logistics and transport through its membership and its educational qualifications.

With a global membership of over 33,000 members working in over 100 countries, CILT provides a professional identity to those in the ever expanding logistics and transport sector. It is a strong, active and a unified professional association that is able to speak with authority on strategic issues affecting businesses and people in the industry and support their careers.
