The Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College (CINEC) has come forward as the Gold sponsor of the EDEX Expo 2014 for its 11th edition. CINEC’s annual enrolment of over 15,000 local and foreign students speaks volumes for its recognition as a leading educational and training institution in Sri Lanka. CINEC boasts of being the largest private higher education institution in Maritime, Management, Engineering and IT related fields. At present it offers over 175 study programs in Maritime, Engineering, Logistics and Transportation, Management and IT, affiliated with some of the best Universities from UK, USA, Australia and China. CINEC also provides specialised Welding Technology, Aluminium Fabricating and Electrical Technician programs. The Campus is in the process of launching Aviation programs from certificate level to degree level. The first batch for the program is scheduled to commence in March 2014. CINEC Maritime Campus, said to be the largest maritime training institute in South Asia, signed an agreement last month with the Government of Fiji and the Fiji National University, to manage the Maritime School of the Fiji National University (FNU) in Suva and will start its duties with effect from 1 January 2014. This is a further expansion of CINEC Campus which recently took over the management of the Seychelles Maritime Training Centre (MTC). Also discussions are in progress to take over the maritime colleges in South Africa. Maritime professionals are considered a vital source for the country to gain foreign currency, and are aligned to the country’s development goals. CINEC having being fruitfully associated with EDEX for the past decade, affirms that EDEX is the best medium to reach a cross section of students, parents and opinion leaders in education and careers. These interactions are catalyst in planning their host of programs post EDEX Expo. “CINEC develops youth by offering quality education and training, leading to gainful employment. We highly value the service rendered by CINEC to the nation’s youth in moulding them to be productive men and women. We are thankful to CINEC for being a Gold sponsor at EDEX Expo 2014 and for their support since its inception,” stated Chairman Kamal Abeysinghe. EDEX Expo Sri Lanka’s largest higher education and careers exhibition organised by the Royal College Union will be held on 17, 18 and 19 January 2014 at BMICH Colombo and on 24 and 25 January at the Kandy City Centre, Kandy.
