CMA CGM announces revenue restoration programme, surcharges

Global carrier CMA CGM last week announced revenue restoration programme and surcharges with effect from 1 August.  Following are its planned moves.

ASIA / NORTH EUROPE TRADE — Peak Season Surcharge

As from 1 August, 2011, a peak season surcharge on the Asia/North Europe trade will be implemented as follows:

  • From all Asian ports (including Japan, South East Asia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh) to North Europe (including UK, Baltic and the full range from Portugal to Russia):

+ USD 250 per TEU*

ASIA / MED TRADE — Rate Restoration Programme

CMA CGM Group announced a new rate restoration programme as from 1 August, 2011 as follows:

  • From Asia (including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong and South East Asia) to the Mediterranean (including Black Sea, North Africa, West Med, Adriatic and East Med):

+ USD 250 per TEU

Peak Season Surcharge

A peak season surcharge of 25 USD per TEU will be implemented as from 1 August, 2011. This surcharge will be implemented trade by trade and will have an independent variation on each trade depending on the market demand and situation:

  • From Asia to West Med: + USD 25 per TEU
  • From Asia to Black Sea: + USD 25 per TEU
  • From Asia to Adriatic: + USD 25 per TEU
  • From Asia to East Med: + USD 25 per TEU
  • From Asia to North Africa: + USD 25 per TEU

The peak season surcharge quantum will be revised with a 7-day notice by market notification.

Overweight Surcharge

Regarding the huge demand in heavy cargo moving from Asia to Med and the high level of 20’ equipment demand, CMA CGM Group has decided to implement OWS (Over Weight Surcharges) as follows:

Effective 1 August, 2011:

  • From Asia to Black Sea, East Med & North Africa:

+ USD 200 per 20’ over 20 tonnes gross weight

+ USD 275 per 20’ over 26 tonnes gross weight

• From Asia to West Med and Adriatic:

+ USD 50 per 20’ over 20 tonnes gross weight

* Twenty-foot Equivalent
