Colombo Dockyard delivers ‘Greatship Rachna’

Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC) successfully delivered the second of a series 3 Platform/ROV Support Vessels (ROVSV) for Greatship Global Offshore Services Pte Limited of Singapore, at the auspicious time of 10:08 a.m. on 12 October 2012.



The signing of the protocol of delivery was done by P.R. Naware (Executive Director, GGOSL) and Mangala P.B. Yapa (MD/CEO, CDPLC) witnessed by V.K. Chandrasekaran (General Manager New Building Offshore Logistics), Jeewaka Gunadheera (Project Manager).

Also in attendance were the Classification Society Surveyors Sirinath Herat (Lloyds Register), DVD Prasadrao (Indian Register of Shipping), Jolene Chew and Tormod Riple representing the DNB Bank, the financiers of the project.

From the Shipyard’s side, Akihiko Nakauchi (Chairman, CDPLC), N. Nishida (Alt. Director), Senior Managers and Special Projects Managers participated at the event.

This vessel is designed by Seatech Solutions International (S) Pte Ltd. of Singapore and it incorporates an oil recovery arrangement and has the capability to operate as advanced PSV, as well as, light construction support vessel, complying with SPS Code 2008, Clean Design requirements.

Greatship Group is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited. With the delivery of Greatship Rachna, the Group currently own and operate four PSVs, nine AHTSVs, two MPSSVs, five ROVSVs and two Jackup Rigs.
