Colombo Dockyard shareholders enjoy a field day at the shipyard

Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC) afforded an opportunity to its public Shareholders who pre-registered with the Company, to visit the Shipyard on 28 June. The visit was organised in response to several requests made by the shareholders at the recently concluded Annual General Meeting.

The visit date was planned in a manner that it coincided with the ceremonial launching of Greatship Rachna, a 78 m Multipurpose Platform Supply Vessel being built for Greatship Global Offshore Services Pte Ltd of Singapore.

As safety is of primary importance in the Shipyard, the Shareholders were first given a safety induction and were taken to witness the Launching of Greatship Rachna, which marked the floating of the ship hull for the first time.  Subsequently, they were taken on a guided tour of the entire Shipyard, which enabled them to gain an in-depth understanding of the Shipyards activities, specifically in ship repairs and shipbuilding.

Chairman Akihiko Nakauchi and Managing Director/CEO Mangala Yapa addressed the shareholders and even participated in an open forum, where ideas were exchanged.

Finally, the shareholders expressed their utmost satisfaction about the shipyard’s operation and offered highest compliments to the directorate and the management for a splendid performance.  The visit concluded with the presentation of mementos to mark the visit.
